COMMON Q&A
Who will be my teacher?
All our teachers are native German speakers with over 20 years of teaching experience. Our instructors bring warmth, patience, and a talent for making language and grammar clear and enjoyable.
How big are the classes?
We keep our group subscription classes intentionally small — up to 10 students — to ensure personal attention, active participation, and a comfortable learning environment. Our telc prep classes are even smaller with up to 8 students.
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes! We offer 1:1 private sessions tailored to your goals, schedule, and learning style. Private lessons are ideal for those who prefer a flexible pace or want to focus on specific topics such as conversation, grammar, or exam preparation.
Can I prepare for an official exam?
Absolutely. Our teachers are experienced in preparing students for Goethe-Institut and TELC exams, as well as other proficiency certifications. We’ll help you strengthen all language skills — reading, writing, listening, and speaking — with targeted guidance and practice materials.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations for subscription classes must be submitted via email 2 weeks prior to renewal date to avoid renewal for the next billing cycle. Course access continues until the end of the current subscription period. Payments for single individual sessions or lesson packages are non-refundable.
What if I miss a class?
All registered students receive an email with a recording of each class along with any study materials shared during the class. If you can’t attend a scheduled group class, do not worry - you will not fall behind! You will have a 7-day replay period to catch up. Private sessions may be rescheduled with 24-hour notice at no additional cost. If they are cancelled with less than a 24-hour notice, we will not be able to refund the cost of the session.
How do I switch levels?
Easy-peasy. Please email us and we can switch you to a different level.
Do I need any prior experience with German?
Not at all. We welcome complete beginners as well as more advanced learners. Our placement process ensures that you start at the right level for your skills and goals.
How do online classes work?
All classes are conducted live via Zoom. You’ll receive your meeting link and materials ahead of time. Lessons are interactive, combining conversation, visual aids, grammar practice, and cultural insights to make learning dynamic and effective.
What materials will I need?
All necessary learning materials are provided digitally. Depending on the course level, your teacher may recommend a textbook or workbook for supplementary study, but no purchase is required to participate fully in class activities.
Do I receive a certificate of completion?
Yes. Upon completing a course, participants receive an ILoveDeutsch Certificate of Completion, which indicates that you have completed the class.
How do I register and pay for classes?
Registration can be completed directly through our website or by contacting us via email. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in accordance with our cancellation policy.
What technical requirements do I need?
You will need a stable internet connection, a computer/tablet/phone with a camera and microphone. We also recommend that you install the Zoom app. Headphones are recommended for the best audio quality and focus during class.
Do I need to have my Zoom camera on?
Preferably but not required. We find that to have the best learning results, full engagement is preferred.
Do you offer trial classes?
No, we do not. We provide a highly-affordable monthly course subscription which has a per-hour learning fee lower than a fancy cup of coffee. In order to keep our classes inclusive and affordable, we cannot provide our service for free.
Do you teach specialized or professional German?
Yes. In addition to general language instruction, we offer industry-specific individual lessons in areas such as business, healthcare, and the arts. These sessions are ideal for professionals who wish to develop specialised vocabulary and cultural fluency in a professional context.
