BIOGRAPHY
​Born and raised in Kiel, Germany to immigrant parents from Trinidad and Ireland, Jahmai Inniss showed keen aptitude towards both languages and music very early on.

Brought up in a truly bi-lingual environment, he has worked as a classroom and a hybrid educator and a linguist for the past 25 years. Having extensively studied French, Latin, German and English, as well as phonetics and literature, Jahmai has been described as 'the word wizard' because of his knowledge of the interconnectedness of languages. Making language learning accessible for all types of learners has always been in the center of his work. 

His education includes an internship at the United Nations (NYC, New York, US, 2010) and a Train-the-Trainer Certificate at the Oxford Aviation Academy (Oxford, UK, 2009). He went to Christian-Albrecht-Universität Kiel (Kiel, Germany) where he studied English Linguistics (BA), Psychology (BA), Musicology (BA) and Business Administration (BA).
                                    
Since 2014, he has worked as a linguist and educator in a wide variety of organisations in in-person and virtual formats - general language acquisition as well as business and IT English & German for WBS Training AG (nationwide, Germany); individual and group language classes for Mont Blanc (Hamburg, Germany), Sp&Se GmbH (Hamburg, Germany) and dateup GmbH (Hamburg, Germany); medical English and German for Universitätskrankenhaus Schleswig-Holstein (Kiel, Germany). In addition he worked as a Speech Optimisation Specialist for Hamburg Airport (Hamburg, Germany) and Blohm & Voss KG (Hamburg, Germany). He has also served as a translator for both corporate and non-profit organisations for the past 25 years.

In the last 20 years, Jahmai has successfully prepared thousands of clients for the following exams and certificates - TOEFL, LCCI, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate, TELC, Goethe and VPET.  He also has extensive experience teaching both German and English for private and corporate clients in the following fields: medical, technical, business, arts, classical music, aviation, IT, marketing, PR.

MY APPROACH
​My approach to teaching languages is anchored in both methodology and in the joy of learning, combining traditional and modern schools of thought. Learning should be based on play where tangible progress is made immediately. I believe in guiding my clients to fully understanding the essence of the language they are studying, its origin and cultural context.

I bring over 20 years of experience teaching German and English both in the United States and in Europe. My clients span from beginners to advanced level, in the private, non-profit and corporate sectors. I have also taught field-specific language, ranging from aviation to zoology.

Having studied Latin for many years, I have a unique perspective on the shared commonality of all Romance languages as well as their roots. Experience has taught me that learning does not have to be a complicated or a labour-some process.

I have a special place in my heart for grammar and am a complete geek when it comes to German grammar. I love demystifying grammar for my clients and helping them while they learn with joy and reach tangible results.
